Changes to Food Service Payments and Account Information

The Food Service program has moved from Wordware to Infinite Campus. Lunch balances can now be viewed and paid by logging into the Parent Portal.

Online educational benefit applications can also be filled out on Parent Portal.

The Food Service module allows you to:

  • View each child’s lunch account balance
    • Household accounts have now been split into individual accounts
  • Add money to each child’s account individually
  • Set up automatic payments
  • Set up a low balance notification
  • See what meals and food items were purchased

All charges and payments will now be available in real time, instead of needing to update overnight.

We do have the capability of blocking ala carte purchases. To set restrictions for your child, please contact the Food Services Director, Teri Jesperson, at 507-233-6186.

Free School Meals for Kids Program

A school lunch is made up of five components: meat/meat alternative, grain, fruit, vegetable, and/or milk.

  • In order to receive a free lunch, a students needs to take at least 3 components, one being a half cup of fruit or vegetables

If lunch is free, what could a student be charged for?

  • Once a student has eaten their free lunch for the day, they will be charged for any additional items taken (extra entrée, extra milk, etc.)
  • When a milk is taken all by itself, without taking the main entrée and fruit/vegetables
    • This usually happens when a child brings lunch from home but takes a school milk
  • The Middle School and High School offer additional items for purchase for a charge.
    • Examples of these items include
      • Cookies
      • Chips
      • Bottled Juice
      • Bottled Water

Educational Benefits Information

Apply for educational benefits to qualify for additional opportunities!

Although qualifying for educational benefits is not necessary to receive free meals, it is still very important to complete the educational benefits application as soon as possible! Qualifying for educational benefits also qualifies students for: free ACT testing; participation in College Possible program; college scholarships; some government benefits; and discounts for things such as Comcast internet service, and tickets to various museums.
You should apply if:
• Your family qualified for benefits last year — a new application MUST BE SUBMITTED EACH YEAR.
• Your family applied last year but did not meet income guidelines. The guidelines change a little each year and you may now qualify for benefits.
• Your household income has been affected by unemployment, health crisis, death or other circumstances.
