Kids Connection is a school-age child care program for students in grades K-6. The program provides quality before and after school care as well as optional all day care on snow days, teacher workshop days, and days prior to or following legal holidays.

The program is intended to assist parents who are unable to be home with their children before the school day begins or when the school day has ended. Kids Connection is meant to be an extension of home where children can feel safe and valued. Children enrolled in the program will participate in a variety of planned and supervised activities including: games, projects, computer time, outdoor/indoor play, and play centers.

Kids Connection is located in the Annex Building for grades 1-6 and at Washington Learning Center for Kindergarten. All before school care for grades 1-6 is located in the Annex Building and care for Kindergarten is located at Washington.

Kids Connection is open Monday through Friday before school from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and after school from 2:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. If school is dismissed early or canceled due to the weather, we will provide care for all registered children. Our summer program begins in June. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All grade levels are located on the Jefferson School Campus in the Annex Building during the summer. A $30 registration fee will be charged per child to use Kids Connection throughout the summer. Our program closes for a week at the end of August or the beginning of September (depending on the calendar) before school starts.

If school is two hours late, dismissed early, or canceled due to inclement weather, Kids Connection has the opportunity to be open. There may be instances where the risk for families and staff is too dangerous and Kids Connection will decide to close. The coordinator will reach out to families to notify them, should this occur.

Little Kids Connection

Little Kids Connection is a wrap-around program offered to any child enrolled in a New Ulm Public Schools preschool.  LKC follows the Mother Goose Time Curriculum.  We get a new theme monthly.  Each month we focis on a new topic, letters, numbers, shapes, colors and more.

LKC is committed to staffing the program with qualified and caring staff.  To ensure the safety of the children in the LKC program, all staff must pass a criminal background check and complete CPR & First Aid training.

The staff/child ratio LKC strives to maintain is 1:10 for preschool aged children (3-5 years old).  These ratios are set by the State of MN Department of Welfare and the MN Department of Children, Families and Learning along with the National School-Age Care Association.

The fee to attend LKC is $160 a week. Fees can be paid online via our Eleyo registration and payment web site.
